To the best of my knowledge, Vanguard I which was launched on 17-MAR-1958 is still in orbit - the oldest man-made object still in space. Often described as grapefruit size it would be a very weak object to observe but amateur equipment in recent years has become quite powerful. Has anyone on the List ever observed Vanguard I? Does anyone have a set of recent orbit elements for Vanguard I?
