Dear all, As you may know, ESA's comet probe Rosetta will make an earth flyby next tuesday. http://www.esa.int/esaCP/SEMC20VOM8F_index_0.html Here is a document with some images that illustrate the geometry. http://www.alberts-welt.de/rosesb2.pdf Rosetta is already know brighter than 18 m and is therefore in reach of CCD equipped amateur telescopes and was already mistaken for an astroid. ;) http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/K07/K07V70.html I would have liked to see the face of the guy doing the orbit calculation... Monday evening should offer very good opportunities to for nothern hemisphere observers to take CCD images of Rosetta. To get ephemerides for your location, consult http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/?horizons This JPL site uses very recent Rosetta orbit data provided by ESA. regards, rainer ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
