The recently launched object that launched 2008 58A was observed burning up in the atmosphere by an observer at Elliston South Australia ( -33.65, 134.88E) at 17:02 UT Nov 21, 2008. Local time was 03:32am Nov 22. This is very close to the last (post re-entry) prediction from Spacetrack.org . It was seen long enough for him to communicate to others to come and look, which they did. Given the time and the length of the observation the object was identified as soon as I checked out the decay predictions.
