Cosatrak 1 (Computerised satellite Tracking System).
Camera mount now carries two systems that can be operated
together as two totally different sytems and computers used.
Generally the DSI Pro II camera will be used for high altitude
slow moving objects. Tests seem to indicate that its sensitivity
is comparable to the MINTRON ( possibly better) but as its not
possible (?) to time stamp to better than 1 second accuracy the
time resolution is not good enough for LEO objects.
Meade DSI Pro II Monochrome CCD camera without filters.
using integration times of 05 sec min to 30 seconds maximum
depending on brightness of sky in particular area.No image
processing done but dark field applied.
Used with 102mm aperture f/2.56 refractor ,field of view 84 x 63
arc minutes. Can get to magnitude 13 or so in less than 20 seconds
exposure.
Exposure time to nearest second inserted into image FITS header
from PC clock which is checked against GPS signal.
Images processed and automatically reduced using APEX.

NOTES:

(1) relatively good session despite a fair bit of cloud from time
to time. Basically trying out new version of CoSatrak improved
by Mike McCants from Willie Koorts original version - improves
my efficiency somewhat and also now enables me to get another
magnitude or two on the fainter high altitude satellites.
(2) Possibility that #20202 DSC 3-4 confused with WESTAR 4 - only
one object seen - pretty faint - and both satellites appear to
have been close together.
(3) Only one position on DSP-F19 before it disappeared behind local
tree- time my neighbour cut it down a bit but last time I did it
I upset his wife because I cut down too much - why do people want
useless unattractive trees in their yard ?
(4) Still to report the other satellites observed with video, namely
NOSS 6(A), NOSS 8(H),NOSS 5(C), DMSP F18, NOSS 1(A), 90070,
NOSS 3-1(R), USA 186, NOSS 2-1(C, NOSS 2-1(D), USA 129 - will
start on them shortly after I have given my eyes a rest - old eyes
dont appreciate long spells of measuring!
