For very accurate astrometric results (arcsecond level), why not use dedicated
astrometric software like AstroRecord? You'll find it at the bottom of my
software page: http://software.langbroek.org

It will be crucial to check whether the GPS timestamp really conforms with the
opening of the camera shutter. Cameras have internal delays. Also, if you
measure both ends of a trail, check the true duration of exposures, as a
"15-second" exposure often is not 15.00 seconds (with some older Canons it can
be closer to 16 seconds!).
