Comparing this debate with Astronomy, "flare" fits in well.  Astronomers have
one class of stars called "flare stars" which does more or less what the
Iridiums do - the time scales are just much longer, as are all things
astronomical compared to satellite tracking.  But like Jim said, sats don't
actually produce their own light (and he also said that this debate is now
getting amusing)! 

Thus using both in combination : Iridiums flare up due to sun glints.
