NOTES:
------
(1) Northern hemisphere observers have a "sweet spot" where they can
    optimize the best efficiency for "staring" at a spot in the sky -
    this point corrsponds to a band where the NOSS satellites have their
    northern apex - eg Cees, Scott and Leo. Peter Wakelin has a sweet
    spot where he can observe the high altitude Molniya satellites.
    I do not have such a spot as the southern apex of the Noss satellites
    is too low in a southerly direction and I have poor observing
    conditions in that direction, so where is my "sweet spot?"

    This turns out to be looking for GTO objects. There are a large number
    of uncatalogued, ( as well as catalogued) objects that have eccentric
    orbits around the latitudes of the Ariane launch site and the latitude
    of Cape Canaveral - Atlas, Centaurs etc, and these will all pass to the
    north of my latitude, so obviously aim north. Now one should observe
    at as favourable a phase angle as possible to get the satellites at
    maximum brightness as the distances involved can sometimes be quite
    high. One needs to also be close to the earths shadow for a mid-range
    satellite in GTO. In addition one does not want the field to be
    cluttered with too many objects in LEO orbits so again keep a fair
    phase angle distance from the sun. So I set my camera up with a decent
    field of view and magnitude gain and do a long run of exposures at a
    reasonable exposure length with a short interval between each exposure.
    At the same time I set HEAVENSAT to show the field of view and with the
    full public SPACETRACK catalog I sit and watch and make a note of what
    goes through the field. This is the easy part.

(2) The "pain" comes when I have to examine the 100 or more images taken over
    a period of say an hour the next day. If anything seen the object in the
    image has to be marked for measurement. Sometimes there is a nil return
    but usually several objects, most already known. APEX then measures and
    identifies, where possible, what is what and puts the data in IOD format.
    The rest you know.  It is a slow process, taking about 2-3 hours to go
    through a 100 images. Its quite suprising how many objects are missed
    in "real time" - ie when looking at the image on the monitor after being
    taken.

(3) I still have about 500 images of other fields to still examine :-((((
