Jeremy Ollerenshaw posted a message on SeeSat-L 
(http://www.satellite.eu.org/seesat/hyper/current/0145.html) on Sept 11 
informing the list of a potential close encounter between Mir (16609) and 
MSTI 2 (23101) on Sept 15.

ABC News reported the close encounter (~500 meters) on their news web site 
today.
