This is a copy of a message I sent to Alan Pickup with
further info about my observation Friday evening of the Foton 12 R/B
----------------------------------------------------
Ok, I used Sat Spy 3.0 for the prediction. I first sighted the rocket
coming out from behind a tree a few seconds past 01:37 UT 09-25-1999.
It was about 30 degrees high, azimuth 210. As WWV ran in the
background, I watched it pass through some high clouds. I observed it
for a total of 20 to 25 seconds, and it disappeared behind some trees just
east of south.
It had no flashing lights, and any plane low enough to be traveling
that fast would have made noise. I didn't see any trailing behind it, and
I am sorry I didn't have my tape recorder out for more precise info.
The moon was in the east-southeast sky and illuminated the high
clouds I saw.
