The flash period of LES 8 continues to decrease by about one second from night to night! It also flashes something like 12-14 (?) minutes earlier each night even though it's not drifting. Here are PPAS reports: 08746, LES 8 (The last two are new; the first two are repeated here for comparison.) 76-023 A 05-09-07 05:24 SDL 0.5 36 128.9 dT=4639.6 76- 23 A 05-09-13 03:32:19 EC 989.4 0.2 8 123.68 +1.5->i 76- 23 A 05-09-14 03:18:41 EC 983.3 0.2 8 122.91 +1.5->i 76- 23 A 05-09-15 03:08:20 EC 975.5 0.2 8 121.94 +1.5->i In my three, I used eight cycles when it was flashing at about the brightest magnitude. For a bit of puzzlement, last February-March it was observed with a flash period between 35 and 40 seconds, e.g., by Brad Young: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/Feb-2005/0269.html Here are some other PPAS reports: 21114, Cosmos 2133 Rk -- a fast flasher -- four cycles plus two groups of 10 each -- 91- 10 B 05-09-14 01:42:45 EC 26.1 0.2 24 1.09 +5.5->i four groups of 10 cycles each -- 91- 10 B 05-09-15 01:49:45 EC 46.8 0.3 40 1.17 +5.0->i 90003 -- a nice unknown near-geosynchronous object observed through Mike's telescope -- 99-503 A 05-09-15 03:44:29 EC 166.8 0.1 8 20.85 +8.0->i asym 13.6, 7.3 timings: 7.31, 13.53, 7.29, 13.58, 7.25, 13.56, 7.28, 13.55, 7.30, 13.58, 7.26, 13.60, 7.25, 13.62, 7.21, 13.60 27369, MDS 1 H-2 Rk -- nice double maxima -- 02- 03 C 05-09-14 01:31:18 EC 52.6 0.2 4 13.1 asymm 11.1, 2.0 timings: 11.22, 1.94, 11.12, 2.02, 11.10, 2.07, 11.04, 2.07 11416, NOAA 6 79- 57 A 05-09-14 01:37:55 EC 43.2 0.5 10 4.32 13923, NOAA 8 83- 22 A 05-09-14 01:53:06 EC 52.0 0.3 22 2.37 0->i timings: 2.27, 2.54, 9.44, 9.38, 4.77, 2.25, 2.35, 4.86, 4.74, 4.77, 2.48, 2.20 11511, Cosmos 1125 Rk 79- 78 B 05-09-15 01:52:53 EC 53.9 3.0 7 7.7 PPAS format: http://www.satobs.org/tumble/flashpm.html#PPASformat Ed Cannon - ecannon@mail.utexas.edu - Austin, Texas, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
