Max White, a name familiar to many on Seesat-l, passed away two days ago. Below is a short note by Jules Corben. Max, Jules and I worked on the Hewitt Satellite cameras in both England and Australia during the 1980s. When Max finished a stint operating the Siding Spring Hewitt camera, I took over from him and that's when my life in Australia began. I'll always remember Max as someone brimming over with enthusiasm. Rob /Sad to report the sudden passing of Max White sometime contributor to Seesat-l forum after a short illness. Max was a lifelong space/astronomy enthusiast. A member of the Geoff Perry's Kettering Group, he was a prolific optical satellite observer before joining Aston University's Earth Satellite Research Unit operating the two Hewitt Cameras - at Siding Spring Observatory, Australia & the Royal Greenwich Observatory, Herstmonceux, UK. / /He continued his interest in space whilst working in the financial advice industry exploring radio tracking through taking up amateur radio and gaining his licence as M0VNG. (Callsign was a nod to the now extinct Australian time-keeping shortwave service VNG.) He was a closely involved with RAYNET - the UK emergency amateur radio network. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family and especially his loving partner Trudie. / _______________________________________________ Seesat-l mailing list https://lists.seesatmail.org/mailman/listinfo/seesat-lReceived on Thu Apr 11 2024 - 16:26:02 UTC
