He was a good friend, and I particularly remember him on an occasion when I visited Herstmonceux. He was very sociable - inviting me to be a guest player for the R.G.O. cricket team for one match; he also partnered me in a game of darts doubles. He also took me (and my wife) on a driven tour around Sussex including a visit to Pevensey beach. He was very knowledgeable and authoritative on Space matters, so I could always turn to him if I needed any confirmation on details of Space missions.
