A Boeing Delta II will launch five IRIDIUM system satellites on Dec. 20 at
5:16:02 a.m. PST/8:16:02 a.m. EST/1316:02 UTC from Vandenberg Air Force
Base, Calif. The IRIDIUM system, a planned 66-satellite constellation, is
scheduled to offer global, wireless telecomunications in 1998.
Those of you with TVRO setups can watch the launch on Telstar 5 Ku-band,
transponder 24, downlink freq: 12121.5 MHz, audio subcarriers at 6.2 or 6.8
MHz (Full Program Mix)
Time of the broadcasts will be from 4:45-5:45 a.m. PST (7:45-8:45 a.m.
EST/1245-1345 UTC).
