I appreciate the help and information. As far as the link system, I have decided to use TDRS for the simulation. The other choice was SDS, but data on the latter appears to be well shrouded and hard to come by, while all TDRS sats are in the STK database. Research indicated that both were or may have been used so using TDRS is fine for my purposes. The next task is to find link, transmitter, and reciever information to help get a somewhat accurate link budget; that discussion may not pertain here but I think I have enough information to be in the ballpark.
