Minuteman III launch observed

Seesater's,
	I watched the Minuteman III launch the other night
from my home in the San Francisco bay area.  It was a
very bright orange and some exhaust and condensation
effects could be seen in binoculars.  The engines suddenly
went dull/dim orange before extinguishing completely.
This was followed by several brief bursts of light visible only
in binoculars every 15-20 seconds.  I lost track of it and
went inside.  Apparently the mission was terminated 5 minutes
into the flight.  Did anyone see anything at that time?
