From an AP report: "U.S. officials say the Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March. The Associated Press has learned that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere." Well, "turned into a cloud of debris", anyway. I wonder if the media will be able to distinguish this from China's leaving debris in stable orbits. Also, I wonder how close to re-entry this would be done. Could be interesting trying to track the debris field afterwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
