Just saw USA 193 zip across the sky and right through Orion's belt. It was close to where Heavens-Above said it would be, roughly 11 seconds or so late. Hopefully my rough positional observation is helpful. I am pretty sure the time is accurate to within 2 seconds -- I had to look down at my watch, which is synchronized daily with the atomic clock. After the observation I checked to make sure the synchronization was correct. Location: 38.8729°N, 77.3071°W Time of observation (EST): 18 Feb 2008, 18:21:56 (+/- 2 seconds) Time of observation (UTC): 18 Feb 2008, 23:21:56 (+/- 2 seconds) Position: 2/3 of the way between Epsilon Orionis (Alnilam) and Delta Orionis (Mintaka) -- closest to Mintaka. - Kevin ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
