I just heard from a friend who is a professional photographer on Maui. He was up at Haleakala for the intercept and thinks he managed to get pictures of the debris field and possible vapor trail left by the vaporizing hydrazine. Details: 550mm William Optics 80mm fluorite doublet w/ 1.4X multiplier, tripod mounted, Nikon D200 ISO 100 Debris field image was a 1/500" exposure. Vapor trail was 2" exposure. I'm not sure about the vapor trail image but I can't imagine what else all those dots are in a sunlit blue sky with such a short exposure. He could not put the full size images on the web site but will email them to interested persons. http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/main.php?g2_itemId=5819 What do y'all think?
