    I don't have any statistics, but it's probably fairly rare, given that most of the Earth's surface is ocean and sparsely
    populated land. That said, one of the earliest re-entries that resulted in debris recovery occurred in 1962, when
    Sputnik IV decayed over the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Significant fragments were found in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Detailed
    reports are found in the SAO's Special Report 109:
