appears to contain only an executable.  for those who are allergic to
MSDOG, i offer relief:  i spent a couple of hours over the weekend
hacking out a simple version that ought to run on any unix-like
system.  send me mail, and i'll ship you a uuencoded "cola.tar.gz".

i was surprised at the fairly large number of "close encounters" that
occur.  i was testing with a file of about 240 objects, and it found
about 130 "events" (minimum separation <50km) in a single day(*)  7
of those were less than 10km.

(*) thats a day of "real time".  actual CPU time to figure this was only
    30 seconds (100MHz i486, Linux).
