Four observers from Austin, TX went to the University of Texas
Bee Caves Research Center west of Austin to observe the NEAR
sunglint. NEAR was first seen by Ed Cannon in the 12 1/2 inch
telescope at about magnitude 12 or 13 about 6:26UT. It brightened
to magnitude 9 over the next few minutes and stayed relatively
constant for a while. Then it brightened to magnitude 6 and
gradually brightened to naked eye visibility. I think it was
about magnitude 2.3 at maximum for over 60 seconds. Then it
gradually faded.

The time of maximum brightness was in agreement with the
predictions. From about 6:37:30 until about 6:38:45.
