Surprising, considering Spot 3 has been making such bright flashes.
I had an overhead south-to-north pass Tuesday night, and once it
passed culmination and started heading down toward the northern
horizon the flashes got much brighter (a few were negative magnitude).
As was mentioned earlier by another observer, Spot 3 seems to be
best seen after culmination, on the downward track toward the sun.
By the way, Jake's post in the archives...
http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Jun-1998/0478.html
accidently appears under Alan Pickup's name. I've been seeing
this happen recently, where a post erroneously inherits the
name of the previous sender. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence
or not, but both times I've seen it happen the post with the
wrong name originated from AOL.
Also, although I seem to be able to post to Seesat, for some reason
I haven't received anything for a few days now. I know by looking
at the archives that people are posting, but I'm not getting those
posts in my mailbox. My other e-mails are fine. Strange.
