Hi All,
I'll be away from my computer for a few days, so I thought I'd post some
information about upcoming ETS-6 flash episodes and locations. As I
type this (20:30 UTC July 24), flashes should be occurring in south
Africa. Perhaps we'll see a report soon from Willie Koorts confirming.
Next in line are Australia and New Zealand as I reported yesterday, from
about 9:45-13:00 UTC July 25, depending on location.
South America is next, beginning about 23:00 July 25 through 4:00
July 26. For any Seesat members in South America, if you want a
specific prediction for your location, contact me before 1:00 UTC July
25.
The flashes continue into Central America from 4:00-6:00, but don't
quite make it to the United States. South Florida is very close, so
observers there might want to try looking around 2:10-2:20am EDT
the morning of July 26th, 45 degrees above the south-southeast. The
satellite comes out of shadow at 2:10 between zeta-Cap and iota-Cap.
Two-line elements are:

After Central America, the next landfall is western Australia from about
15:00-17:00 UTC July 26. 17:00-22:00 sees East Africa up to southern
Egypt, India and China.
The Hawaiian islands will have an opportunity from around 9:45 -
10:14:30 UTC
on 27 July. (Shadow entry is at 10:14:30). Flashes will be about 45
degrees
above the SSW, a little above the Sagittarius "Teapot".
Southern California finally gets a shot at it beginning at 10:55:30 UTC
on
July 27 (3:55:30am PDT, Monday morning). From San Diego, ETS-6 emerges
out of shadow 24 degrees above the southwest, already flashing. Look
for
it between psi-Cap and beta-Cap. It will probably be visible in Orange,
L.A.,
Riverside and San Bernardino counties also, though the further north you
go,
the dimmer the flashes will be. Arizona, New Mexico, southern-most
Nevada
(Las Vegas) and southern-most Colorado will also be in range -- same
time.
Good luck all! --Rob
