Hi: I am attempting to image the LCROSS Satellite with 80 mm of glass aperture. I am piggybacked on an LX200 with good GOTO capabilities. I used JPL's Horizons System and Bill Grays TLE data for 9:00 PM EST 07.05.2009 (01:00 UT 07.06.2009) and then plotted the coordinates using Software Bisque's theSky. http://upload.pbase.com/adamstuart/image/114687299/original Since my FOV is large (Starlight Xpress SXV-H9) I was in the correct location, and I would say that both the ephemeris calculation and Bill's TLE data support each other well for imaging considerations. I reviewed 75 images that I took at 60 seconds each, unbinned 1x1, and the faint satellite is nowhere to be found under my skies last evening. I assembled an AVI sequence and could not see the target. Anyway, I just wanted to share a graphic display of a single position of LCROSS as predicted using two different sources.
