Cosatrak 1 (Computerised satellite Tracking System).
Camera mount now carries two systems that can be operated
together as two totally different sytems and computers used.
Meade DSI Pro II Monochrome CCD camera without filters.
using integration times of 5 sec min to 25 seconds maximum
depending on brightness of sky in particular area.No image
processing done, but some done automatically in the auto reduction
software.
Used with 4 inch SKYWATCHER refractor- model 1025 - fitted with home
made focal reducer to give an f/2.56 system. Image scale is 6.56 arc
sec/pixel and field of view 84.8 x 63.2 arc minutes. Shows 15th
magnitude stars in real time with reasonably good conditions.
Exposure time to nearest second inserted into image FITS header
from PC clock which is automatically checked every minute against
GPS signal.

Notes:
------
(1) Two good nights one after the other - almnost unbelievable for my
location. Transparency excellant. Seeing ranged from 12 to 17 arc
seconds depending where in the sky. I suspect the optics of my cheap
4 inch Chinese refractor improve as the temperature drops.
(2) Object 05024 - INTELSAT 3-F7 ( lost by SPACETRACK) is normally a
very difficult target, seldom visible yet tonight was bright and
steady - funny what phase angle does!
(3) MENTOR 2 #25336 appeared to be quite a bit west of predicted
position. As best I can recall it has not moved in about 5-6 years
that it has been tracked. USA 202 is very close to it - is MENTOR 2
possibly being moved westward and being replaced by USA 202 ?
(4) Unknown was on edge of field of two images - should have followed
it as I could see at the time that HEAVENSAT had nothing at the
observed position.
(5) If the clear weather holds till tomorrow night I will probably
track again and try and get the few remaining objects that have not
been observed recently.
(6) Have not seen SDS-2F4 in several attempts recently, watching -4
to about +5 minutes -- probably also done a move.
(7) All processing done automatically by APEX.
