Cosatrak 1 (Computerised satellite Tracking System).
Camera mount now carries two systems that can be operated
together as two totally different sytems and computers used.
Generally the DSI Pro II camera will be used for high altitude
slow moving objects. Tests seem to indicate that its sensitivity
is comparable to the MINTRON ( possibly better) but as its not
possible (?) to time stamp to better than 1 second accuracy the
time resolution is not good enough for LEO objects.
(1) MINTRON low light level CCD surveillance camera (0.005
lux typical in non integration mode) and 0.00005 lux in STARLIGHT
mode with 128 frame integration.)
Used with 135mm focal length f/2.5 lens,integrating for 128 fields
which is equivalent to a max exposure of 2.56 seconds maximum
per image, but dependent on sky brightness. Field of view
2.4 x 1.8 degrees.
Individual frames are video time stamped with GPS derived signal.
Images processed and measured manually.
(2)Meade DSI Pro II Monochrome CCD camera without filters.
using integration times of 05 sec min to 30 seconds maximum
depending on brightness of sky in particular area.No image
processing done but dark field applied.
Used with 102mm aperture f/2.56 refractor ,field of view 84 x 63
arc minutes. Can get to magnitude 13 or so in less than 20 seconds
exposure.
Exposure time to nearest second inserted into image FITS header
from PC clock which is checked against GPS signal.
Images processed and automatically reduced using APEX.

Looks like my winter rainy season is over - rather early this year.
Very good conditions for a change but a spell of drifting cloud
slowed me down a bit otherwise would have got more object.
08482: Three images taken of what is believed to be DSP-F05 and showed
typical DSP variability. Also was a "bit off track".
An SL-12 R/B(2) was also in all three images.
However in last exposure a 3rd object was seen-not visible in the
other two images, but "on track" for DSP-F05.
So either the first three images are NOT of DSP-F05 and thence an
"unknown", or the last exposure image was an "unknown".
27663: Bit of a mystery. Short trail in one of three images doesnt match
anything. NAVSTAR 51 passed close to this but would have been a
bit "off-track" as well as being a few seconds out - unusual for a
NAVSTAR - also the track angle was not correct so an unknown.
It would appear that several satellites have performed orbit changes since
last observed 24 days ago, the candidates being:
PAN # 35815 last observed 24 days ago
USA 227 # 37377 last observed 24 days ago
MERCURY 1 # 23223 currently "lost " - last observed 96 days ago
SDS 3F1 # 26635 last observed 24 days ago
Needing observations:
DSCS 3-4 #20202 - last observed 117 days ago - rather too low in my west
for evening observing - bad phase angle
DSCS 3-11R2 #26054 - last observed 96 days ago - again low in my west.
DSP F17R3 #23438 - last observed 113 days ago - suitably placed for me.
EKRAN 5 #11890 - a very elusive object!
DSP-F18R3 #24740 - last observed 116 days ago - suitably placed for me.
DSP-F22 #28158 - last element set 210 days old - lost
Hope to observe again in a few days time.
DVD recorder operational again so can now observe LEO sats again.
