The only US launch sites that would fly anywhere near Sarasota are launches
from Cape Canaveral, and they all go EAST from there. Unlike the Chinese
(read Long March) we don't launch large rockets over land. However, there
have been in the past small sub-orbital launches from Matagorda Island of
the Texas coast. But nothin' goin' WEST! See the following website for
schedules of launches from the Cape and take a couple hours and drive over
to the Cape. Good luck.
