GOES-8 Reference Longitude Change
===================================

In response to a slight drift of GOES-8 outside of its operational "box" of
plus or minus .5 degrees from standard orbital position (75 degrees West),
NOAA plans to change the reference longitude on March 4, 1999, at 0030
UTC, to maintain proper navigation.

As a result of the change, users should expect a temporary registration
shift in GOES-8 imagery at 0045 UTC. In about three weeks, the reference
longitude will be changed again to reflect the new position of GOES-8.
