    March 24:
NASA has officially decided to end the Compton Gamma Rays Observatory's
mission. With only two of its gyroscopes functioning, flight controllers will
use the GRO's thrustes to slow its speed and have its height decrease over a
few months. GRO will reenter over the Pacific, 2500 miles off Hawaii, in
    June.
