Florida Today Online is reporting that a Mir spacewalk began at 0332 UT Monday to remove a solar panel and to hand-launch the Sputnik 1/3 scale replica. I'm assuming the solar panel will be jettisoned, but the article didn't explicitly say so. It just said the panel will be removed. Mir will make pre-dawn passes Monday for the southern half of the U.S., Central America, and Hawaii. Evening passes for N.Z., southern Australia, and South Africa are coming up, as well. The URL for the spacewalk story is subject to change, but is currently: http://www.flatoday.com/space/today/110397b.htm Craig Cholar
