I would think (guess) that the process for separation of the external fuel tank would involve a series of short burns to establish some distance followed by a longer burn to basically send it on its way. That was my impression of the pulses. I was expecting a flameout at MECO to end the obs. The 10 second burn and the pulses that followed were clearly after I had heard the confirmation of the external fuel tank separation on my scanner. Anyone have the schedule of events for the separation?
