Hi all, I just got this question from a visitor to Heavens-Above. Could someone please help them, this is outside my field of knowledge. Thanks, Chris Peat Chris Peat, Heavens-Above GmbH E-mail: Chris.Peat@heavens-above.com Web site: www.heavens-above.com -----Original Message----- From: The Petruffs [mailto:petruff@traci.net] Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2000 00:55 To: Chris.Peat@dlr.de Subject: telescope tracking You probably don't have the answer to this one (not slighting your knowledge...just realizing it could be out of the expertise envelope) but, I was hoping you might be able to point me to a source of information. We just got a Meade 4.5" reflector with an equatorial mount and Starfinder computer control. It's really great for finding and tracking celestial objects because the follow the sidreal motion (I think that's the right term). Satellites, on the other hand, don't follow those kinds of paths and speeds vary greatly. My question is, how can I get my scope to track something like the shuttle or ISS of MIR? It's powerful enough to give me real images if I can only keep it locked on and tracking. I'm thinking of investing in photo adapting gear to be able to get some pix but I've got to be able to track first. Haven't been able to find anything on how this is done and so far, Meade has not been much help. You got any idea where I might look for info? Any suggestions will be very greatly appreciated. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe from SeeSat-L by sending a message with 'unsubscribe' in the SUBJECT to SeeSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
