Hi all,
The recent flurry of off-topic posts and personal attacks should be
stopped. SeeSat-L has been a very friendly list during the past 7 years,
thanks to everyone's efforts to remain civil. The recent discussion
about "geodetic datums" probably constitutes the first "flame-war" on
SeeSat-L and it should be the last.
Without apportioning blame to anyone, the following are off-topic:
1. Messages that contain impolite or abusive language.
2. Messages that are not related to visual observing and related topics.
3. Messages containing quotes from private messages without obtaining
permission from the original author.
I think the "geodetic datums" discussion has run its course on SeeSat-L.
It has become clear that this discussion can no longer be held in an
objective, civil manner. Any discussion on this topic needs to be moved to
UseSat-L, our parallel list which deals with the useage of SeeSat-L. To
subscribe to this list, send a message to
UseSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org with the word "subscribe" in the
SUBJECT of the message.
I will not install filters to remove "geodetic datums" messages from
SeeSat-L, as they can't be made fully effective without lots of work.
I rely on everyone's adherance to the above "rules". If any subscriber
chooses to ignore the above and continue posting off-topic messages to
SeeSat-L, he or she may be unsubscribed as a result.
Back to your regular program of "visual satellite observing" messages.
